Kindergarten Activity Portfolio

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Welcome to the North Penn School District! We are so excited that your child will soon begin their kindergarten journey with us. This is such a special milestone, and we are truly honored to partner with you as your child takes this next exciting step in their educational experience.

Now that you have successfully completed the online kindergarten registration process, we want to share what comes next.

In the coming months, your child’s home elementary school will be reaching out to schedule a brief appointment for your child to visit the school and complete the Kindergarten Activity Portfolio (KAP). Please note that KAP appointments will not begin until May, so you should not expect to be contacted right away. Rest assured, your school team will connect with you to coordinate a convenient time.

The Kindergarten Activity Portfolio is based on PreK standards and provides an opportunity for us to learn more about your child’s kindergarten readiness skills across a variety of areas. The KAP is designed to feel fun and engaging for your child and will take approximately 15–20 minutes to complete. During this time, your child will work independently with a staff member while a family member completes a brief survey. This survey helps your child’s teacher better understand their strengths, interests, and individual needs.

The information gathered through the KAP allows our school team to be as prepared as possible to best support your child and ensure a smooth, successful start to kindergarten.

We cannot wait to welcome your family into our North Penn community. Kindergarten is the beginning of so many wonderful learning experiences, friendships, and growth opportunities, and we are thrilled to begin this journey together.

With excitement and appreciation,
