Assistant Superintendent Dr. Waters' 2024-2025 Goals

 

Goal and Steps

 District Comprehensive Goal

 Goal 1: Increase student achievement and provide excellent programming for students by:

  • Providing multiple professional learning opportunities (i.e. in-service days, flex, webinars, department meetings, coach facilitated sessions, etc.) throughout the year that improve teaching and learning
  • Planning for the Disability Inclusive Curriculum grant
  • Assessing the progress of the K-12 STEEL standards and Elementary Progress Report committees
  • Monitoring the middle schools' implementation of the new schedule at least once a quarter
  • Fostering collaboration and using data to enhance curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices
  • Meeting monthly with the instructional cabinet members to ensure clarity, consistency, and accountability among our departments and schools

Academic Excellence 

 Goal 2: Continue to develop a community that values a sense of belonging and promotes equity for all students by: 

  • Providing the tools needed to analyze and respond to academic data and behavioral patterns in inclusive, culturally responsive ways at least three times a year
  • Addressing the disproportionality of students groups in special education by refining the MTSS/CST model
  • Recruiting and retaining qualified, diverse staff who are representative of our students and community
  • Strengthening connections with the NP community by offering at least three workshops with an equity focus
  • Creating accessible learning environments by enhancing our current systems and structures
  • Exploring teaching pathways for paraprofessionals via online programs

 Equity, Access, and Cultural Responsiveness

 Goal 3: Create innovative environments that are safe and welcoming by:

  • Cultivating inviting school cultures for all
  • Co-facilitating discussions with the Behavior and Accountability Safety Action Sub-Committee by meeting at least three times this school year
  • Training teachers, staff, and students to integrate technology appropriately and responsibly
  • Utilizing the HALO and Evolv safety systems
  • Practicing safety drills with administrators, teachers, and staff members throughout the school year
  • Implementing ALICE training and safety protocols
  • Seeking qualitative feedback from students/families 
  • Providing professional development on positive, proactive de-escalation strategies and techniques
  • Participating in the HS project, renovations discussions, and playground developments, as needed

 Safe, Efficient, and Modern Schools

 Goal 4: Promote organizational effectiveness resulting in improved services for students and the community by:

  • Leading the Comprehensive Plan Committee through an engaging progress that is designed to improve student outcomes beginning in October 2024
  • Streamlining communication to staff and community and administering the Hanover Climate Survey for feedback
  • Reviewing and refining district policies and administrative regulations on a monthly basis
  • Implementing Infinite Campus payments for families
  • Increasing continuity between our middle schools and high school

 Operational Excellence

 Goal 5: Enhance mental health supports for students and staff by: 

  • Taking feedback from the "Listening Sessions" and Belonging Survey data respondents by increasing counseling supports, affinity groups, and offering family engagement sessions at least three times a year
  • Adding school counselors at the elementary level
  • Implementing cell phone expectations at each level
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the SEL curriculum at the elementary and middle levels
  • Phasing in the implementation of PBIS at the middle school level
  • Expanding opportunities for staff and student wellness

Social and Emotional Wellness

 Goal 6: Ensure students are equipped for college or careers upon graduation by:

  • Expanding dual enrollment opportunities for students
  • Encouraging juniors and seniors to take advantage of our Community Hosted Internship Program (CHIP)
  • Planning career fairs and trade fair opportunities
  • Increasing Post-12 community partnerships
  • Delivering guidance career lessons to students

 Future Ready

 Goal 7: Communicate with and engage the NP Community by:


  • Supporting new and existing affinity groups that focus on strengthening a sense of belonging for all
  • Gathering qualitative feedback from students at all levels through surveys, informal conversations, etc.
  • Attending school and communitty events (i.e. Special Olympics, NPSD Educational Foundation golf outing, etc.)
  • Encouraging participation at the annual mental health fair for NP families and staff
  • Increasing communication and transparency via the audit recommendations (i.e. Engage NP, Workshops, Website, School Spotlights at Board Meetings, etc)
